MANILA, Philippines – The struggling Team Socceroo FC avoided a third straight loss as they hold Pachanga – Diliman PLDT Home Fibr FC to a 2-2 deadlock in the continuation of the 2014 United Football League, Thursday, February 27 at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig City.

After absorbing heavy losses in their last few games – including a 0-9 thumping to Global and 1-7 defeat from Green Archers United – Lee Jeong Woo lifted Socceroo to a draw as he scored two goals in both halves to improve their slate to 1-3-6 but they remain in eighth place with only six points to show.

The prolific Korean scorer – who has now tied Global’s Misagh Bahadoran and Milad Behgandom as the league’s fifth highest scorer with six goals – drilled one in from point blank just 15 minutes into the match to tow Socceroo to a 1-nil lead.

Pachanga, however, retaliated with two quick goals before halftime with Ariel Zerrudo equalizing in the 25th and the returning Jinggoy Valmayor, who is fresh from his UAAP stint, scoring the go-ahead just seven minutes later.

The Diliman tandem continued to pester Socceroo’s defense but Guilherme Hasegawa was up to the task to thwart every Pachanga attack and keep the score close after the first 45 minutes.

One goal down and with Valmayor getting closer and closer to scoring once more, it was Lee who stole the thunder in the 69th as he tied the game anew, nailing a well-taken shot from inside the box.

Amidst Pachanga’s last-gasp efforts to score the winner, Hasegawa held on mightily until the final whistle as he remained solid in between the sticks to help Socceroo end their misery and salvage their third draw this season.

The solitary point from tonight’s draw was enough for Pachanga-Diliman, now perched at 3-1-5, to overtake Philippine Army – GTI FC for the fifth position in the table, increasing their tally to 10 points and securing a better goal difference than the Armymen.

Team Socceroo faces Army next on March 8 while Pachanga will enjoy a long break before they take on in-form Kaya FC on March 15. – Rappler.com
