MANILA, Philippines – For the second time in a month the Philippine National Men’s Football Team was held to a scoreless draw against Malaysia. The second outing between the two teams took place on Sunday, April 27 at the Cebu City Sports Center in Cebu as a tuneup for the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup in May.
Playing without injured mainstays Phil Younghusband and Rob Gier, the Azkals came close to scoring but were denied by the goalpost. Malaysia had a late chance to pull out a victory but a clutch save by goalkeeper Patrick Deyto rescued the game for the Azkals.
