San Beda takes Ang Liga title in controversial final vs Arellano
Arellano head coach Vel Saluria orders his team to walk out after San Beda's second goal he claims to be offside

MANILA, PHILIPPINES- The San Beda College (SBC) Red Booters conquered the formidable Arellano University (AU) football team, 2-nil, to take the pre-season collegiate championship plum after a controversial game at the San Beda College Football Field on Saturday, September 13.

After a tough season of playing against top collegiate football teams, San Beda, also the reigning National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) football champs, successfully defended its Ang Liga crown.

In hopes of ending this year’s installment of the pre-season collegiate tilt with a bang, SBC went full-on with their offensive come the start of the opening half which resulted into an early conversion by high scoring Bedan striker Connor Tacagni in the second minute.

Meanwhile, deep in the first half, another goal was notched by the home squad as Miguel Caindec struck a ball to the back of the net off a rebound to extend the lead of San Beda, 2-nil.

Arellano’s head coach Vel Saluria, however, claimed that Caindec’s goal was offside prompting the veteran coach to burst into protest for the alleged non-call. Nevertheless, match officials were firm the second goal of San Beda was onside.

Saluria ordered his men to pull out of the pitch and walk out of the match thus gave the match official no choice but to end the game and award the Bedan booters the pre-season collegiate plum.
