Global, Ceres La Salle UFL finals clash start of new rivalry?
Can Global FC maintain its dominance in Philippine football or will challengers Ceres La Salle FC usher in a new era?

MANILA, Philippines – United Football League (UFL) top gun Global FC is set to clash with emerging powerhouse Ceres La Salle FC in the first-ever Finals pairing of the UFL FA League Cup on Thursday, November 6.

The match has the potential to become a new rivalry in Philippine football.

Undisputed defending champs Global FC will look to extend their reign on Philippine football, while newly-promoted team Ceres FC will seek to etch their name among the top tier clubs in the country.

A club that tackled UFL’s second division like a storm, Ceres is a team hungry to win the championship.

The Club will be headed by their topnotch players Juani Guirado, Manny Ott, Patrick Reichelt, Adrian Gallardo, Carli De Murga and Jin Ho Kim.

Global’s loaded line-up will be headed by two of the league’s top scorers – Izo Elhabib and Mark Hartmann –  and will be reinforced by high caliber talents Misagh Bahadoran, Daisuke Sato, and Amani Aguinaldo.

All eyes will be on the two valiant keepers of the opposing clubs, Global’s Patrick Deyto and Ceres’ Michael Casas, as they try to prevent a landslide of goals from going through their gloves.

The unblemished record of the challengers in the cup will be put to a test, as Global’s prowess on the offensive end is expected to be aggressive from the get go giving the young club from Bacolod a tough match-up for the crown.

“To be honest this is where we expect to be. We expect to be in the final.” Said Global FC coach Leigh Manson in an interview.

“This is what it means to be at Global. Everybody else, their job at the moment, is to catch up with us. We’ve won the last two trophies, and now we have a chance to win the next trophy.”

Meanwhile, Former Global FC player and now a mainstay in Ceres FC’s starting eleven Carli De Murga said he is excited to play against his old club.

“Every player wants to play against the defending champions of the UFL. We’re going to prove who is the best team here in the Philippines.”

Ceres FC director Ali Go stressed his club is “very excited for the final.”

“As I’ve said so many times we’ve worked so hard for this. The boys gave everything for this game. I think I will have a system to play versus Global.” – Rappler.com
