Clark, Ayew brace lifts Kaya FC over Pachanga FC
MANILA, Philippines – British striker Louis Clark and Ghanaian winger Christian Ayew clinched two goals a piece to carry Kaya FC over Pachanga Diliman FC, 6-2, in the first division of the United Football League on Saturday, March 21.
The fans present at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on a humid Manila afternoon were treated to a goal fest in the match-up between the two top tier clubs as both team locked horns to tally a win for their sides.
Pachanga FC looked aggressive during the opening minutes of the first half as a nerve-racking goal from outside the box sent by Jun Hyuk Jung startled the Kaya defense as the former took the early lead in the 7th minute.
Not backing down, the league’s number one seed Kaya FC stepped on the gas pedal to swiftly equalize and was rewarded by a goal by Younousse Yaogo off a great assist from Miguel Tanton.
The men of Adam Reekie continued to pounce on the defense of their foes resulting into another as OJ Porteria found the back of the net in the 13th minute to take the lead for his club.
On the other hand, Pachanga quickly answered with a tally from their end from another Korean stalwart as Lee Jeung Woo connected to level the score at 2-2 in the 30th minute.
The pace of the Pachanga FC offense slowed down after the second goal for their side as the frontline of Kaya took control of the heated affair after Clark notched two consecutive goals in the 42nd and 49th minutes to inch his club away from the adversaries.
Ayew, who came in as a substitute for the high scoring Clark in the 70th minute, placed the cherry on top of the win for Kaya as he netted two quick goals in the 81st and 82nd minutes to solidify his squad’s grasp on the league’s top spot.
Meanwhile, Loyola Meralco Sparks FC spoiled the UFL comeback of Global FC, 1-0, courtesy of a Phil Younghusband goal in the 28th minute.
Lastly, the division one game between Manila Jeepney FC and Philippine Army FC ended in a 2-2 draw during the first game of the UFL’s triple-header Saturday. – Rappler.com
