Odds favor McGregor in UFC title fight vs Aldo

MANILA, Philippines – Conor McGregor has been pegged by betting odds as the early favorite to win in the featherweight title unification bout against Jose Aldo at the UFC 194 pay-per-view event on December 13 (December 12 in US).

According to BestFightOdds.com, McGregor is listed as the -190 favorite in the 145-pound championship clash versus Aldo, who is labeled as the +155 underdog.

In layman’s terms, a bet of $190 on McGregor would net an additional $100. On the opposite end, a $100-wager on Aldo would earn $155.

Structured as a money-line game, odds will change in either direction as the fight approaches because sportsbooks will attempt to even the playing field and spread wagers on both sides to cover its risk.

Aldo and McGregor were originally penciled to meet this past July, but a rib injury forced the featherweight champion to withdraw from the match against the Irishman, who was left with no choice but to face late replacement Chad Mendes for the interim title.

Aldo (25-1) has won 7-straight fights since entering UFC’s Octagon in April 2011 and becoming the organization’s inaugural featherweight champion.

The 28-year-old Brazilian was last seen in action when he earned a 5-round verdict against Mendes in an October 2014 rematch.

Aside from his two victories over Mendes, Aldo also owns notable triumphs over the likes of Ricardo Lamas, Frankie Edgar, Chan Sung Jung, Mark Hominick, and Kenny Florian under the UFC banner.

McGregor (18-2) won the interim UFC featherweight belt by punching out Mendes late in the second round.
