WATCH: Vera sends harsh message to Parry for withdrawing from fight
Brandon Vera holds no shots back as he insults Parry for backing out of their fight

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American fighter Brandon Vera fired unforgiving verbal jabs at Chi Lewis Parry after the removal of the British combatant from their much-awaited encounter, which was originally slated to headline ONE Championship’s “Spirit of Champions” event on Friday, December 11.

The 38-year-old Vera blatantly slammed Parry for his sudden pullout from the 5-round heavyweight title tilt in a video that was uploaded on Facebook.

This is for you Chi Lewis-Parry . Don’t have time to talk shit on Twitter so here is your video. Apologies for the language to my fans, sponsors, and children but sometimes it is called for.

According to ONE’s official press release, Parry failed to submit his medical results and drug tests that caused his removal from the 5-round title tilt versus Vera.

The statement added that Parry decided not to board the plane departing from London to Manila, which was scheduled for Tuesday, December 8.

“You asked for the fight. You begged for the fight. You got the fight. Then you decided to miss the press conference and not to show up on your flight. Then you decided not to show your medical records and send your medical records in,” Vera said.

However, Parry denied the allegations that were thrown at him by ONE, asserting that Asia’s largest mixed martial arts organization is misleading the general public with an erroneous indictment.

“They have made up their excuse, which has taken them days to form, and are blaming me with bogus accusations. It’s disgusting that an organization claiming to be one of the top competitors in the world are happy to pull stunts like this,” he wrote in his personal Facebook account.

Over the weekend, Parry criticized ONE on social media as he claimed that the promotion already had plans of bringing in Paul Cheng to serve as a last-minute replacement.

ONE clarified that Cheng was coming to the country to promote the company and accommodate media obligations.

As it turned out, Cheng stepped in to take Parry’s spot to battle Vera for the available heavyweight title after ONE made the shocking announcement.

“As I forewarned, ONE Championship has ripped my shot from my grasp. They pretended Paul Cheng was travelling to Manila just for media obligations and lied to every fan,” Parry stated.

Meanwhile, Vera commended Cheng for filling the void on the fight card as the Taiwanese-Canadian stalwart accepted the offer on a few days notice.

“Mr. Paul Cheng, thank you for stepping up. You are the No.2 seed for the title shot. I appreciate you coming in and putting a show with me in Manila,” he said. – Rappler.com
