Angela Lee proud of brother Christian’s successful ONE FC debut
'To be honest I was definitely more nervous for Christian in his fight. After he won I felt a little bit of relief,' MMA fighter Angela Lee says of brother Christian

MANILA, Philippines – Siblings Angela and Christian Lee share everything together – including fighting on the same fight card.

The Singaporean MMA fighters saw action together in the same event for the first time at ONE Championship’s year-end event “Spirit of Champions” on Friday, December 11.

Angela, 19, who has gained a following this year with her so far undefeated 4-0 record, could not be any prouder of her brother who had an impressive debut inside the cage.

“I’m incredibly proud of my little brother. He had an amazing performance, he definitely made a statement tonight and I couldn’t be happier for him,” she said. (READ: Meet the ‘Unstoppables’: Brother-sister MMA duo makes Manila debut)

Christian’s first pro fight lasted only 29 seconds as he was aggressive out of the gate, unloading a fury on Cambodian David Meak to come away with a technical knockout victory.

“To be honest I was definitely more nervous for Christian in his fight,” Angela shared. She also claimed a win over Ukranian Lena Tkhorevska via submission on a rear-naked choke in Round 2. “After he won I felt a little bit of relief.”

Christian, who says that he and his sister grew up surrounded by martial arts as a way of life, admitted it was a “dream come true” to be on the same fight card as Angela, who made her first ONE appearance just last May.

“It’s amazing. It’s really a dream come true for us. My sister and I we do everything together, we train together, and we’ve always talked about one day getting on the big stage and fighting together,” said Christian, who also admitted he had a lot of nervous energy before stepping into the cage.

“There’s no bigger opportunity than being here at ONE Championship fighting in the same night.”

If both performances are any indication, it looks like the Lee siblings may just take ONE Championship by storm soon enough.

“It was everything,” Christian said of his dominant debut. “My dad always says you’ve got one shot to make a first impression and my sister did that in her pro debut, and I was just lucky enough to do that in mine also.” – Rappler.com
