Ex-UFC champ Jon Jones cited for drag racing violation
Jones is ticketed for drag racing in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, along with 4 other traffic infractions

MANILA, Philippines – Jon Jones found himself in trouble again as the former UFC light heavyweight champion was cited for 5 traffic infractions in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The 28-year-old fighter was ticketed for drag racing in the downtown area of the  city and also received citations for having a modified exhaust, swerving between lanes, exhibitionist driving, and covering his license plate’s registration tag with a decorative cover.

Celebrity news outlet TMZ obtained a video of Jones being pulled over by the police before having a heated exchange of words with the responding law enforcement officer.

Jones was likewise pulled over in February for driving without a license. He was slapped with a 90-day deferred sentence.

Jones is currently on probation for the much-publicized hit-and-run incident last year, prompting the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization to strip him of the UFC light heavyweight belt and to place him on indefinite suspension.

In September 2015, Jones was given a conditional discharge with an 18-month probation and is required to complete 72 speaking engagements without incident.

Jones will make his much-anticipated return to the Octagon as he is set to face Daniel Cormier in a light heavyweight championship rematch at the UFC 197 pay-per-view event on April 24 (April 23 in US).

It is too early to assume if this latest incident will curtail his comeback as Jones was warned not to get any citations while on probation.

Jones is due to answer the charges at the Albuquerque Metropolitan Court on April 5. – Rappler.com
