Abelardo-Park bout scratched off from PXC 53 card

MANILA, Philippines – Pacific Xtreme Combat was forced to cancel the 3-round bantamweight bout between Mark Abelardo and Han Bin Park at PXC 53 on Friday, April 8, after the Filipino-Kiwi prospect failed to make weight.

Abelardo was two pounds heavier than Park, who effortlessly came in at 135 pounds during the official weigh-in on Thursday, April 7.

Although there was an option to fight in a catchweight contest, PXC matchmaker Robert San Diego told Rappler that Park’s camp decided to step away from the offer as they see it as not beneficial to the Korean combatant.

“The Korean camp called it off,” San Diego said.

Meanwhile, the Guam-based promotion has given clearance to Ernie Braca and Adam Cacay as both men also had a weigh-in mishap.

Braca checked in at 140 pounds for his 3-round bantamweight tussle with Stephen Loman, who was one pound below the 135-pound border.

Cacay was two pounds above the 125-pound flyweight perimeter as he is slated to lock horns with Anton Larsson.

San Diego revealed that their bouts will still push through, but both Braca and Cacay will pay an undisclosed penalty for not making weight as stipulated in their fight contract.

“Yes, it was fixed within camps and coaches. Their fights will remain on the card,” he stated. – Rappler.com
