ONE FC: Pinoy MMA bet Rocky Batolbatol yields to Christian Lee
MANILA, Philippines – Another Filipino fighter fell victim at the hands of Singaporean sensation Christian Lee as Rocky Batolbatol succumbed to the highly-touted prospect’s striking prowess on the undercard of ONE Championship’s “Kingdom of Champions” card on Friday, May 27 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 31-year-old native of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental was verbally submitted by Lee at 2:14 of the first round with solid punches from top and a follow-up soccer kick to the head.
Utilizing his length and height advantage, the 17-year-old Singaporean effortlessly created space and maintained his distance, prompting Batolbatol to negligently and forcefully throw his punches at his opponent.
As Batolbatol looked for a big shot by hurling an overhand left, Lee was able to trap his Filipino foe along the cage with a front kick to the midsection that gave him an opening to deliver a crisp head kick.
A wobbly Batolbatol tried to sustain his balance, but Lee hammered a series of wild punches to drop him to the canvas and then smacked a knee to his face.
Lee secured his fifth career stoppage by raining down merciless blows on a defenseless Batolbatol, who had no other choice but to wave the white flag.
Batolbatol loses his third-straight outing inside the ONE Championship cage and downgrades his professional record to 5-3.
On the other hand, Lee remains undefeated in his fledgling prizefighting run by improving his win-loss slate to 5-0.
In the main event, Japan’s Yoshitaka Naito (11-0) scored an upset by submitting hometown favorite Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke (6-1) with a fourth-round rear-naked choke to take home the ONE Championship strawweight title.
Russia’s Marat Gafurov (14-0) retained his ONE Championship featherweight belt by topping Kazunori Yokota (25-6-3) via second-round submission.
Meanwhile, Russian combatant Timofey Nastyukhin (10-2) made a quick work of Rob Lisita (14-8), finishing the Australian journeyman in just 6 seconds.
Nastyukhin got the job done by dropping Lisita with a straight right hand a follow-up left hook before triggering a soccer kick to compel referee Yuji Shimada to halt the featherweight contest. – Rappler.com
