Edward Kelly set to battle Vincent Latoel at ONE FC's Indonesia event
MANILA, Philippines – Two Filipino fighters will don the country's colors on the undercard of ONE Championship's "Titles and Titans" event in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 27.
Leading the pack of Pinoy combatants is Edward Kelly, the youngest brother of renowned homegrown talent Eric Kelly.
Kelly (7-3), a 32-year-old native of Baguio City, is set to square off with lightweight mainstay Vincent Latoel in a 3-round contest.
The 5-foot-9 Team Lakay representative has won two of his last 5 outings inside the ONE Championship cage after being unbeaten in his first 5 professional fights.
Kelly is coming off a first-round submission victory over Jordan Lucas last March, where he forced his Australian opponent to wave the white flag with a rear-naked choke.
Meanwhile, Latoel (16-17-2) is fresh from his first-round technical knockout loss to former lightweight titleholder Kotetsu Boku last February.
The 37-year-old Dutch has not won a bout since September 2015 when he thwarted brash French journeyman Arnaud Lepont with punches and soccer kicks in the second round.
Latoel has lost 4 of his previous 7 matches under the ONE Championship umbrella, which included a lopsided decision defeat at the hands of Eduard Folayang in December 2013.
Aside from Kelly, Burnard Soriano is also booked for ONE Championship's second 2016 trip to Indonesia, which takes place at the Jakarta Convention Center.
Soriano (2-2), who is competing for the second time in ONE Championship, locks horns with Indonesia's Mario Satya Wirawan (5-3) in a 3-round tussle. – Rappler.com
