This is to give way for the international triathlon race which will kickoff with the 1.9-kilometer swim in the waters fronting the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City, to be followed by a 90-kilometer bike from Shangri-La passing through one lane of the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, onwards to Mandaue, Cebu then Talisay as the turning point and back through the same route to Shangri-La for the last phase of the gruelling race which is the 21-kilometer run, again from Shangri-La to Punta Engano and back.

This is the first time that a 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship is being held in Asia. This is the 8th half Ironman held here in the Philippines with the first 3 hosted by Camarines Sur and the last 5 including this Sunday’s race hosted by Cebu.
