Max Holloway visits PH in September to promote UFC Manila 2

MANILA, Philippines – The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will bring featherweight fighter Max Holloway to Manila from September 15 to 18 to promote the organization’s second live event in the Philippines on October 15.

Even though he is not slated to be part of the UFC Fight Night Manila 2, Holloway will spearhead a meet-and-greet session and public workout at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City on September 17.

Holloway, who is presently ranked number 3 in the UFC featherweight division, owns the longest active winning streak in the promotion’s 145-pound weight class with 9-straight victories under his belt.

In his 4-year UFC run, the 24-year-old Hawaiian standout has scored impressive triumphs over the likes of Will Chope, Akira Corassani, Cole Miller, Cub Swanson, Charles Oliveira, Jeremy Stephens and Ricardo Lamas.

Holloway positioned himself as one of the possible options to challenge Conor McGregor for the UFC featherweight championship by outpointing Lamas this past June.

Quick punching combinations, exquisite counterstriking, and a seemingly unshakable chin carried Holloway to the winner’s circle. 

Holloway had Lamas in trouble in the first and second rounds, where he bombarded his opponent with the surgical precision and even threatened with chokes during a few ground exchanges.

Meanwhile, Lamas is scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night Manila 2 and aims to bounce back at the expense of the returning two-division world champion BJ Penn.

UFC Fight Night Manila 2 is set to take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Tickets to UFC Fight Night Manila 2 are now available at all SM Tickets outlets, with seat prices listed at P12,500 ($267.83) for VIP, P9,500 ($203.55) for Patron, P7,200 ($154.27) for Lower Box A, P6,000 ($128.56) for Lower Box B, P2,350 ($50.35) for Upper Box, and P1,350 ($28.93) for General Admission. – Rappler.com
