MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American cage fighter Brandon Vera successfully defended his ONE Championship heavyweight title after dominating Japanese stalwart Hideki Sekine in the main event of ONE’s “Age of Domination” card on Friday, December 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Vera forced the referee to stop the fight at 3:11 of the first round as he landed a solid left head kick to the challenger followed by a barrage of ground strikes

Vera utilized his 75-inch reach to keep Sekine away from him. The reigning champ broke the challenger’s nose with a nasty knee to the face.

The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star improves his professional record to 15-7 with this thrilling victory. The 43-year-old veteran (7-1), on the other hand, suffered his first ever professional fighting loss after failing to capture ONE Championship’s heavyweight gold.

Vera greeted the Filipino fans a happy holiday after his successful defense.

“Manila, maligayang Pasko!” (Merry Christmas Manila) Vera shouted to the energetic crowd.
