Agassi, Serena will banner Singapore team in IPTL
The International Premier Tennis League announced that American tennis stars Andre Agassi and Serena Williams will banner the Singapore Slammers in the upcoming competition, which takes place from November 28 through December 13.
The IPTL will be hosted in four cities throughout Asia, including Manila, Singapore, New Delhi, India and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Agassi, 44, has won the Australian Open four times, the US Open twice and the French Open and Wimbledon each once. Williams, 32, is the world’s current number one ranked female tennis player and has won 61 career titles.
The Singaporean team, will also feature 2001 US Open and 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt, plus Tomas Berdych, Daniela Hantuchova, Bruno Soares, Patrick Rafter and Nick Kyrgios.
The Manila leg is set for November 28-30 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. From Manila, the IPTL will move to Singapore from Dec. 2 to 4, New Delhi, India (Dec. 6 to 8) and Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (Dec. 11 to 13).
When asked whether Agassi, Williams and company would compete in the Manila leg, an IPTL representative said "it will be announced in due course."
