Skaters celebrate their passion at DC’s Global Skate Jam 2015
PRESS RELEASE: In line with celebrations held around the globe for the annual Go Skateboarding Day, DC rolled out a no-holds-barred event that gathered skaters from all corners of the metro

MANILA, Philippines – In line with celebrations held around the globe for the annual Go Skateboarding Day, DC, the leading brand for performance skateboarding shoes and apparel, rolled out a no-holds-barred event that gathered skaters from all corners of the metro for a day of non-stop skating, music, and camaraderie.

Held at the Backyard Skatepark in Sta. Rosa, Laguna last June 21, DC’s Global Skate Jam concocted all the right ingredients to come up with the craziest and most thrilling skate event of the season. Kicking off with the Push Race, skaters pushed throughout the designated course and back into the venue to officially jumpstart the daylong festivities.

Soon, in between free skate sessions, DC began to regulate a series of skate competitions divided into categories including the Bowl Jam, Best Grind, Game of Skate, Best Run, Highest Ollie, and Longest Gap. And because no skateboarding event is ever complete without music, a mini music fest was set-up, which featured bands like Jejaview, Faintlight, and Indio-I for everyone to enjoy.

To cap off the program, DC held an awarding ceremony and presented exciting prizes for the competition winners as its way of giving back to the community.

Taking home the title for the Highest Ollie was Lornel Bihasa, for the Bowl Jam, Benjie Damasco came in 3rd place, Rasheed Al Rasheed in 2nd, and Richard Sanchez as the 1st placer. For the Longest Ollie, Josh Lavina came in 3rd, Lornel Bihasa placing in 2nd, and Rasheed Al Rasheed in 1st. For the Best Grind, Lornel Bihasa comes in 3rd, Richard Sanchez in 2nd, and Rasheed Al Rasheed bagging ultimate title. Lastly, the Best Run saw Ikoy Enriquez place in 3rd, Richard Sanchez in 2nd, and Rasheed Al Rasheed in 1st – emerging as the ultimate skater of the day.

In keeping with the spirit of the occasion, the DC Global Skate Jam successfully gathered Filipino skateboarders from all crews and corners to bond, meet new people, and simply enjoy their mutual passion for skateboarding.

Beyond merely being a brand, DC is committed in its mission to nurture the skateboarding community not only by producing high quality performance products but also by uniting skaters through highly anticipated events such as the Global Skate Jam 2015.
