MANILA, Philippines – Batangas’ own Alyssa Valdez secured the winning set as the Creamline Cool Smashers grounded the defending champion Pocari Sweat-Air Force Lady Warriors in a 4-set showdown, 25-15, 27-25, 17-25, 25-19, at the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) in the Batangas City Sports Coliseum, Sunday, May 20.

Valdez – who delivered one of the highlights of the night with a phenomenal spike that ended a long rally and secured the extended second set – finished with 16 points built on 13 spikes, a couple of service aces, and a block.

Imports Kuttika Kaewpin (16 points) and Nikolina Asceric (13 points) also helped the Cool Smashers regain a share of the lead with idle PayMaya at 3-1. 

Pocari managed to regroup and easily take the third set, 25-17, but they ultimately ran out of gas down the stretch.

The Lady Warriors dropped to sixth at 1-2.

In the other game, the Petro Gazz Angels finally entered the win column after 3 straight losses with a stunning 5-set comeback,15-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-20, 15-9, against the BanKo-Perlas Spikers.

Anastasia Trach, who finished with 23 hits and 4 blocks, drew solid support from Stephanie Mercado and Cherry Nunag while Wensh Tiu, who sustained a right foot injury late in the 4rth, delivered quality minutes for the Angels. – Rappler.com
