Lady Warriors boost PVL semis drive
The defending champions slip past BaliPure-National University in a 5-set thriller

MANILA, Philippines – Pocari Sweat-Air Force outlasted BaliPure-National University in a 5-set thriller, 29-27, 20-25, 19-25, 26-24,15-13, to bolster their semi-final bid in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Season 2 Reinforced Conference on Wednesday, June 20, at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Myla Pablo unloaded 22 points and Madeline Palmer fired 21 points for the Pocari Lady Warriors, who stayed composed even after the BaliPure Water Defenders charged back to tie the count at 13 in the deciding set.

The defending champion Lady Warriors wrapped up the game on a Mhicaela Belen attack error and Palmer’s match-clinching spike.

Talagang superstar [siya] para sakin. Pag naglalaro siya parang import. Buti nalang nag-step up, malaking impact siya,” Pocari coach Raymund Castillo said of Pablo.

(For me, she’s really a superstar. When she plays, she’s like an import. It’s great that she stepped up, she made a big impact)

The Lady Warriors improved to 3-1, while the Water Defenders fell to 1-2 in the single-round quarterfinals.

Pocari mainly had to deal with BaliPure standout Janisa Johnson, who erupted for 35 points. – Tonichi Regalado/Rappler.com
