F2 stays unbeaten; PLDT nails first win in PSL
Ara Galang, Kalei Mau and Aby Maraño take charge as F2 Logistics stay on top at 3-0

MANILA, Philippines – F2 Logistics stayed undefeated after drubbing Foton, 25-9, 23-25, 25-22, 25-16, in the 2019 Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference on Saturday, June 22, at Imus Sports Center.

The Cargo Movers stayed on top at 3-0 with Ara Galang, Fil-Hawaiian Kalei Mau and Aby Maraño leading the charge.

Flexing their veteran experience, the Cargo Movers pulled away early in the 1st set to erect a big 15-point lead and held Foton to just a single-digit point total.

Although the Blue Tornadoes redeemed themselves by snatching the 2nd set after a tight duel,  the Cargo Movers proved to be the steadier side in the next two frames.

In an intense 3rd set, the Cargo Movers led by 8 but the Tornadoes cut it down to just a point. Maraño, though, made sure to wrap it up in F2’s favor as the Cargo Movers regained control in the 4th set.

Galang paced the Cargo Movers with 18 points built on 15 attacks, 1 block, and 3 aces.

“Ako kasi, kung saan ako nilagay ni coach, like kung ano yung tinuturo niya, yung pinapa-try niya, willing akong matuto at willing akong i-adapt yun sa sarili ko,” said Galang.

(I just follow our coach, like whatever he teaches and whatever he wants me to try, I’m willing to learn and adapt.)

Foton absorbed its second straight loss for a 1-2 record.

Earlier, PLDT Home Fibr survived a hard-fought game against the Sta Lucia Realtors, 22-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-20, 15-8, for its first win in two outings.

Jorelle Singh put the finishing touches to tally 14 attacks and 2 aces as Grethcel Soltones, Maria Alvarez and Jasmine Nabor also helped PLDT rise from two sets down.

The  Lady Fibr Hitters turned the game around in the 3rd set starting with a 4-0 run on the way to a decisive 25-16 set win.

And they never let up from there, keeping their composure in the next two frames to complete the comeback against the stunned Lady Realtors. – Czarina Brozo/Rappler.com
