The Blaze Spikers bank on a returning star to roll to a 4-1 record as the Tornadoes also climb to 3-3

MANILA, Philippines – Sisi Rondina returned with a bang as the Petron Blaze Spikers dominated PLDT Home Fibr for a straight-set triumph, 25-16, 29-27, 25-22, in the 2019 Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference at the Malolos Gym at Bulacan Sports Complex, on Saturday, July 6.

Rondina, who just came from a vacation in Japan, made a quick impact to finish with 10 attacks and a block for the Blaze Spikers.

Sobrang thankful kasi despite na wala ako the past games, love pa rin nila ako,” said Rondina, who also drew support from Ces Molina and Mika Reyes. “Sabi naman ni coach, binigyan kami ng trabaho, ginagawa lang namin yung trabaho namin and we give our best talaga.”

(I’m just thankful that even though I wasn’t around the past games, my teammates still love me. Coach said that we’re given a job, so we should do that job and really give our best.)

The Blaze Spikers rolled to a 4-1 record while PLDT fell to 2-4.

In the other match, the Foton Blue Tornadoes also turned back Marinerang Pilipina in straight sets, 27-25, 25-15, 25-20, to climb to 3-3.

Foton tallied 38 points in attacks compared to the winless Lady Skippers’ 28 as the Blue Tornadoes also banked on their strength in blocking to finish with 13 rejections. – Czarina Brozo/Rappler.com
