Carlos Yulo secures podium finishes in the floor and vault events of the 2020 All-Japan Gymnastics Championships

Carlos Yulo bagged two bronze medals in the 2020 All-Japan Gymnastics Championships on Sunday, December 13, as he continues his preparation for the Tokyo Olympics.

Yulo secured podium finishes in the floor and vault events and placed 8th overall in the all-around department with a total score of 170.032 points.

The Filipino dynamo scored 14.866 in the vault final and 15.2 in the floor final to nail back-to-back bronze medals.

Kaya Kazuma captured the all-around gold medal.

“[W]e [will] set [a] new target and try our best [in] our training to beat them,” said Munehiro Kugimiya, who coaches Yulo in Japan, on Facebook.

Yulo has been hard at work training and competing in Japan as he is set to see action in his first Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Other Filipinos who have qualified for the Olympics are pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena and boxers Eumir Marcial and Irish Magno. – Rappler.com
