United City FC dismantles Maharlika Manila FC with 10-0 rout

United City FC maintained their perfect record in the 4th season of the Philippines Football League (PFL) as they overpowered Maharlika Manila FC, 10-0, on Tuesday, November 3, at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite. 

United’s latest triumph lifts them to the summit of the league table with 9 points and a +17 goal difference.

Kaya FC Iloilo, who drew to Stallion Laguna FC earlier on Tuesday, will now drop to second place with 7 points and a +2 goal difference.

Though Maharlika became the victim of season-high drubbing, United City team captain Stephan Schrock greatly admires what Anton del Rosario has done for the newly formed Maharlika team.

“He is doing great in giving his boys an opportunity and like I said earlier, the best way to show that respect to the opponent is giving it our all from 1 to 90. And that’s what we did,” said Schrock.

United City FC’s monumental performance saw OJ Porteria and Robert Lopez-Mendy record hat-tricks.

OJ Porteria ended the 4-0 goal fest in the first half with a sliding tap-in in the 39th minute as United caught Maharlika sleeping in a simple throw-in sequence started by Hikaru Minegishi.

His second goal was a low side-netting penalty at the 71st minute, and the third highlighed the match as he produced an absolute screamer from outside the box at the 75′ mark.

Lopez-Mendy, on the other hand, went on streak and scored 3 consecutive goals all in the 2nd half.

In the 49th minute, the former Ceres Negros squad pounced on a non-call on Schröck’s tackle as it allowed Minegishi to set-up Lopez Mendy.

Lopez Mendy completed his hat-trick in the next 14 minutes with two more simple strikes right smack in the middle of the penalty box.

Mike Ott went home with a brace as he opened the scoreline in the 16th minute when Schrock threaded a through ball to Bienvenido Marañon, who smartly squared it to Mike Ott for a bottom left corner finish.

In the 73rd minute, Ott fired a right-footed shot into the empty net for his second goal in the match, and the team’s ninth overall.

AFC Cup top goal scorer Marañon chipped in a goal in the 19th minute after Ott created a sizzling low cross at the right side of the box for an easy tap in.

Captain Schrock converted his own chance with his individual brilliance as he dribbled past two defenders to get inside the box at the 33rd minute. – Rappler.com
