MANILA, Philippines - United Football League division 1 champs Global FC gave North Cotabato’s M’lang FC a 10-0 thrashing to tally their first win in Group B of the final group stage of the PFF-Smart National Club Championship at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Friday, January 23.
The goal fest for the Leigh Manson-mentored brigade kicked off immediately after the start of the match with Mark Hartmann finding the back of the net four minutes into the game.
M’lang, a club based far south of the metro, was taken by surprise by the fierce offense by Global who once again scored in the 13th minute, this time by Dennis Villanueva.
Before the game went into the halftime break, two more goals were added to Global FC’s count as Raul Martinez and Hartmann struck gold during the 20th and 32nd minutes, respectively, giving their club in a 4-0 advantage.
Problems piled up for the booters from Mindanao as Izo Elhabib continued the winning ways of the UFL champs with a goal of his own to extend his team’s lead.
M’lang, however, did not back down from the challenge presented by the titans of Philippine football as they valiantly tried to spark outbursts of their own headed by Peter Jaugan which led to two conversions that were immediately disallowed due to infractions committed during the attacks.
As the game continued, 5 more goals were grabbed by Global’s pesky frontline by Hikaru Minegeshi in the 66th and 86th minutes, Elhabib in the 70th, Satoshi Otomo in the 79th, and Yu Hoshide in the 88th minute.
