Former NBA star Jeremy Lin tests positive for COVID-19 in China

Former NBA star Jeremy Lin announced on Saturday, August 7, that he had tested positive for COVID-19 in Shanghai, China.

The Taiwanese-American Lin shared that despite being vaccinated, he still tested positive for the coronavirus on the third day of his quarantine from the United States.

“Somehow, despite being vaccinated and having tested negative prior to departure twice, testing negative upon arrival, and being really careful during travel, I tested positive for coronavirus during day three of my quarantine,” said Lin on his Instagram.

“My case is mild but it hasn’t been a cakewalk and I can’t imagine what it’d be like if I weren’t vaccinated,” he added.

After an impressive stint with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA G League earlier this year, the 32-year-old Lin announced in June that he is taking his talents back to China to play for the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Lin, who rose to fame during his “Linsanity” run in 2012 with the New York Knicks, already suited up for the Ducks in the 2019-2020 CBA season, where he averaged 22.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in 39 outings.

In the end, Lin urged people to get vaccinated as it could prevent severe COVID-19 cases and reminded people not to take the new variants lightly.

“For those still unsure, PLEASE PLEASE go and get vaccinated! There are so many people around the world that would love to be vaccinated and it could be the difference between mild symptoms and something a lot worse,” said the one-time NBA champion Lin.

“For those vaccinated, I know we’re all tired of dealing with COVID precautions but please continue to be careful! These new variants are no joke and your health is so precious. We’re going to get through this together,” he added. – Rappler.com
