MANILA, Philippines— In July 16 2013, Tripleshot Media Inc., producers of the re-launched sports and adventure show, Gameplan, conducted an 8-week long online host search. Contestants were asked to submit their video profiles explaining their game plan in life and why they should be part of the show. Among several applicants, 18 hopefuls were invited for a VTR interview, and only 6 contestants made it to the cut.
The six finalists were: Inez Achacoso, a social enterprise officer and a former UAAP women’s football player for Ateneo; Mike Advincula, a financial adviser, Water Polo national athlete, and a former music VJ; Amanda Fernandez, a model, team captain and manager of Sikat Football Club; Ally Lim, a race organizer and a Track and Field runner; Juls Rodriguez, an adventure-seeker and camera man for reality series Survivor USA; and Ton Vergel De Dios, a former music VJ turned vocalist of pop punk band Hansom, and a street calisthenics gymnast. The six contestants were chosen based on their style, spunk, and spirit of adventure.
Clueless of the challenges that they had to face, the six aspirants were brought to Pico de Loro in Nasugbu, Batangas last November 5, 2013. There, the Gameplan producers had rolling cameras, adventure gear, interesting activities and a few surprises for the host-search finalists.
On their first day of challenge, the finalists underwent a hosting bootcamp conducted by some of the original producers of the show, namely— Jake De Guzman, Karen Seno, and Riza Dizon. Former GAMEPLAN host and now TV anchor, Paolo Abrera, was also present to share his experiences, and insights in hosting the action-filled youth-oriented show.
Among the six finalists only two were promised a spot to host the new generation of Gameplan and earn a badge to create meaningful and breath-taking experiences with one of the longest- running real-life sports and adventure show in the Philippines. - Rappler.com
