Ginebra, Alaska aim for survival in last PBA elims week

The tumultuous 2021 PBA Philippine Cup elimination round will soon conclude as all remaining teams wrap up their schedules this week.

Quarterfinals seeding will be determined in the tight latter half of the standings as the NLEX Road Warriors (5-5) shoot for at least sixth place against the Meralco Bolts (7-2) on Wednesday, September 22, 3 pm.

Meanwhile, the Alaska Aces (3-6) will try to stave off elimination, and start another back-to-back slate against the San Miguel Beermen (6-4) at 6 pm.

Defending champion Barangay Ginebra (4-6) is likewise looking for a win to keep their title defense run alive, but they will run into a Meralco squad seeking twice-to-beat advantage on Thursday, September 23, 2 pm.

Finally, the NorthPort Batang Pier (5-5) will aim for a favorable end to their elims run as well with a win against Alaska at 4:35 pm.

After the standings are set, and the quotients are figured out to determine the eight playoff teams, the quarterfinals proper will begin sometime this week or early next week. – Rappler.com
