Castro is Gilas Pilipinas' leading scorer at FIBA Asia so far with 17 points a game to go with an average of 2.2 assists

MANILA, Philippines – Two years ago Jayson Castro was part of the FIBA Asia Championship Mythical Team and officially became Asia’s best point guard.

He still is.

Castro, known internationally as Jayson William, exploded for 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field. He also had two rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals as Gilas Pilipinas took down defending champions Iran, 87-73, in he 2015 FIBA Asia Championship on Monday, September 28 in Changsha, Hunan, China.

With the win, the Philippines topped Group E with a 3-1 record and could finish the second round with the top seed should they defeat India on Tuesday. (IN PHOTOS: Gilas takes down giant Iran at FIBA Asia)

Castro has been the fixed point on the floor for the nationals game in and game out, providing leadership and dictating the pace of the team.
