
BULACAN, Philippines – Perlas Pilipinas’ Janine Pontejos’ owned the women’s shoot-out contest qualifying round 1, which eventually catapulted her to the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2018 finals to be held on Tuesday, June 12, at the Philippine Arena.
Pontejos scored 6 points from the arc in 22 seconds – the fastest of Day 3’s results. The 4-time WNCAA MVP was tied with China’s Jiaying Jiang, but the Filipina’s hot hand edged her out by 8 seconds.
Croatia’s Marin Hrvoje, Russia’s Maksim Dybovskii and Alexandra Stolyar join the Centro Esolar University alumna in the finals.
According to FIBA, the finals format will be composed of two men and two women who will attempt 8 shots: 5 from the right wing, 5 from the top of the arc, 5 from the left wing and 3 from the 3×3 logo that will merit two points.
The players will need to shoot the most baskets in the shortest amount of time possible. – Rappler.com
