Known as the “Cebuano Hotshot,” Dondon Hontiveros broke into the pros with the now-defunct MBA before joining the PBA in 2000.
Despite being aged 38, the former University of Cebu standout remains one of the league’s most deadeye shooters and reliable scoring options, and will certainly be a threat for Coach Tab Baldwin’s system that puts importance on spreading the floor.
The Alaska Aces star is one of only 5 players in PBA history to have converted 1000 3-pointers in his career while currently ranking 38th all-time in points scored in the league’s history.
After averaging 7.6 points and shooting 34% from 3-point range last PBA season, Hontiveros was called up for national duty for the fourth time. Hontiveros’ potential to get hot from beyond the arc means that the Philippines’ continental rivals will have to keep a defender on his hip at all times. – Rappler.com
