Kai Sotto will put to test the improvements he gained while training in the United States as he reinforces Gilas Pilipinas for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers

Rest is for the weary for Kai Sotto as he immediately went back to work on the first day of his quarantine in the Philippines.

Sotto shared a photo of his workout on Instagram to kickstart his mandatory quarantine before he joins Gilas Pilipinas in its preparations for the third and final window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers.

He arrived in the country late Tuesday, February 2.

“Work don’t stop,” Sotto wrote as caption to his Instagram Story. (READ: SBP advises public to ‘take it easy’ on pressuring Kai Sotto)

The 7-foot-3 big man is anticipated to play a vital role as the Philippines tangles with South Korea twice and Indonesia once in its last 3 qualifier games in Group A.

Suiting up for the senior national team for the first time, Sotto will put to test the improvements he gained while training in the United States, where he is currently playing for Team Ignite in the NBA G League.

The 18-year-old chose to honor his commitment to the national team despite the G League kicking off its new season in February in a bubble at the Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Sotto will soon join Gilas Pilipinas in training at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.

After its training camp, the national team will fly to Doha, Qatar for the third window as it tries to win at least one game to clinch its Asia Cup berth. – Rappler.com
