Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 is headed to Graz, Austria, as it vies for a spot in the Tokyo Games through the FIBA 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) that will run from May 26 to 30.
The team left the country on Sunday, May 23.
Composing the Filipino delegation are top 3×3 players Joshua Munzon, Alvin Pasaol, and Santi Santillan, Southeast Asian Games 3×3 gold medalists CJ Perez and Mo Tautuaa, and head coach Ronnie Magsanoc.
Karl Dehesa, who was supposed to serve as a reserve player for the team, did not make the trip as he is undergoing a 14-day quarantine due to health and safety protocols.
The team recently wrapped up its preparations for the OQT by playing scrimmages against practice players Jason Brickman, Malick Diouf, Tonino Gonzaga, and Greg Flor at the Inspire Sports Academy in Laguna.
In the OQT, Gilas 3×3 will go up against Slovenia, France, Dominican Republic, and Qatar in Group C. (SCHEDULE: Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 at FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament)
