Gilas Pilipinas will acquire 3 more players from the upcoming PBA Draft.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) identified Jaydee Tungcab, Jordan Heading, and Tzaddy Rangel as the players the national team will pick in the special draft.

Once drafted, the trio will become full-time members of the national team.

They will join Isaac Go, Matt Nieto, Mike Nieto, Allyn Bulanadi, and Rey Suerte, who were drafted by Gilas Pilipinas two years ago.

“We thank the 3 for their trust and commitment to the program,” said SBP president Al Panlilio in a statement.

“Over a short span, we’ve seen the development of the program and of the players’ individual talents as well and we’re confident that the upcoming Gilas draftees will benefit greatly under program director Tab Baldwin and his outstanding staff of coaches.”

The 6-foot-3 Tungcab is no stranger to Gilas Pilipinas as the UP Fighting Maroons guard suited up for the squad in the second window of the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the 6-foot-2 Heading is a product of the Batang Gilas program before he played for the California Baptist University in the US NCAA.

Gilas Pilipinas beefed up its frontline by adding the 6-foot-8 Rangel from the NU Bulldogs.

Heading and Rangel played together for Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League before it canceled its season due to the coronavirus pandemic. – Rappler.com
