Former ONE bantamweight world champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon expects nothing but great things from fellow Team Lakay star Stephen “The Sniper” Loman as he enters the global stage.
The five-time mixed martial arts champion became the latest acquisition of ONE Championship from the fabled stable in Baguio City, which has produced 6 world champions to date – Belingon included.
Now that he has someone to work with in the bantamweight division, Belingon is relishing in the possibilities.
“I’m very happy and excited because right now we have another guy [from Team Lakay] in the bantamweight division,” Belingon said.
“I think he’ll fit in and fare well whoever he faces first because he’s a complete fighter,” he added. “One thing I can say – expect fireworks.”
Loman comes in as one of the hottest signees in The Home of Martial Arts, entering the promotion with a 14-2 record and riding an eight-match win streak.
Despite his hot run, Belingon reminded Loman to stay hungry as he’s about to enter a division loaded with talent.
At bantamweight, he’ll be up against the likes of Belingon’s rival, Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, and other stars like John “Hands Of Stone” Lineker, Fabricio “Wonder Boy” Andrade, and Yusup “Maestro” Saadulaev.
“He has to stay focused and keep winning,” Belingon said.
“That’s the only advice that I give to Stephen so he can reach his goals and become a champion in ONE in the future.”
Based on what he sees from Loman both inside and outside the ring, he has little doubts that “The Sniper” will make a dent in the division – and maybe even win the world title.
“He has a great attitude both inside and outside the gym,” Belingon said.
