Gretchen Ho shares that MVP personally messaged that he wanted to donate bicycles

Manny V. Pangilinan collaborated with former volleyball star Gretchen Ho in her Bike For Livelihood project to celebrate World Bicycle Day on June 3.

Ho shared that Pangilinan personally messaged her that he wanted to donate bicycles after watching one of her stories on the TV segment The Big Story.

The business tycoon even shared his own bicycle story.

“You know, our family had no means when I was young so I never had a bike,” Pangilinan told Ho.

“When I came back from Hong Kong after several years, one of the things I missed was learning how to bike, so I called up a colleague and asked, ‘Where can we buy a bike?’. Paul, my officemate, and I, went to Cartimar, and he said, maybe we should get you one with training wheels.”

“One Sunday morning I went on the bike with training wheels… Guess what? After a while, the training wheels broke. That was the end of my biking career.”

The MVP group donated a total of 500 bicycles across different cities and is encouraging its employees to bike to work as well.

Ho also partnered with Pasig City by providing 50 bicycles to Pasig 4Ps recipients, 20 to their bike lane enforcers and another 50 bikes also to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) contact tracers.

The former Ateneo volleyball star’s advocacy is to encourage people to ride bicycles by supporting the creation of bike lanes, bike parking, as well as educating others on road safety especially for cyclists. – Rappler.com
