The Philippines secured its best Olympic finish in three decades after wrapping up the Tokyo Games at joint 50th place with Slovakia with a gold, two silvers, and one bronze.

Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz won a first-ever gold, boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam both clinched silver, while Eumir Marcial pocketed a boxing bronze for the Philippines’ biggest medal haul in Olympic history.

USA topped the medal table for the third straight Games with 39 golds, 41 silvers, and 33 bronzes for a total of 113 medal to beat out China, which produced 38 golds, 32 silvers, and 18 bronzes for a total of 88 medals.

Host Japan landed at third place with 27 golds, 14 silvers, and 17 bronzes for a total of 58 medals.
