Nexplay Esports capped the opening week of the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) Season 7 with a stunner as it dismantled defending champion Bren Esports.

Considered as underdogs, the rejigged Nexplay crew proved to be a force to be reckoned with after sweeping Bren Esports in their best-of-three affair on Sunday, March 21.

John Paul “H2wo” Salonga delivered a superb performance with 8 kills and 7 assists against 0 deaths with his Ling as Nexplay wrapped up the series in under 12 minutes in Game 2.

Nexplay also banked on new midlaner Dexter “Exort” Martinez, who tallied 4 kills and 11 assists against 2 deaths with Yve in Game 2.

Like H2wo, James “Jeymz” Gloria put up a perfect line of 4 kills and 6 assists against 0 deaths in Game 2 with Esmeralda, while Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera had 2 kills and 10 assists against 3 deaths with Silvanna.

As H2wo dominated, reigning MPL PH Most Valuable Player Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno struggled with only 1 kill and 3 assists against 4 deaths with Claude in Game 2.

Nexplay ended Week 1 at the top of Group B, while Bren Esports remained without a series win in Group A after a 2-1 loss to Onic PH the day before.
