Nexplay Esports halted its four-series losing streak in the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) with a 2-1 victory over Cignal Ultra on Sunday, April 18.

With its last series win coming in the opening week of Season 7, Nexplay finally got its groove back by capitalizing on the unorthodox draft of Cignal Ultra in the decider of their best-of-three affair.

Pairing Diggie and Natalia seemed like a smart move for Cignal Ultra early in Game 3 as the two heroes neutralized the jungling capability of Nexplay star John Paul “H2wo” Salonga on Ling.

But H2wo eventually secured his buffs and core items to help Nexplay wipe out Cignal Ultra en route to the 13-minute finish.

H2wo tallied 9 kills and 6 assists against 2 deaths, James “Jeymz” Gloria had 8 kills and 1 assist against 0 deaths on Benedetta, while Renejay “Renejay” Bacarse recorded 3 kills and 11 assists against 0 deaths on Alice.

With the loss, Cignal Ultra stayed winless after 4 series played.

Meanwhile, Blacklist International kept the status quo by netting its fifth straight series victory to start the season and ended the three-series winning streak of Work Auster Force, 2-1.

Blacklist International remained at the top of Group B with 13 points ahead of Execration (9 points), Nexplay (8 points), Omega Esports (7 points), and Laus Playbook Esports (4 points).

In the final match of the week, Aura PH seized the lead in Group A with a 2-0 verdict over Omega.

Aura PH has amassed 11 points to overtake Work Auster Force (10 points) for the No. 1 ranking in Group A, with Bren Esports (6 points), Onic PH (5 points), and Cignal Ultra (2 points) trailing. – Rappler.com
