A clever split push by John Paul 'H2wo' Salonga and Renejay 'Renejay' Bacarse propels Nexplay Esports to a sweep of Omega Esports

Nexplay Esports extended its hot streak in Season 7 of the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) with a surprising sweep of Omega Esports on Saturday, May 1.

Threatened by the possibility of Omega forging a rubber match, Nexplay banked on a sneaky backdoor play to pull off the 2-0 win for its third straight series victory.

Omega went all in on the Lord at the 17th minute mark of the second game with hopes of forcing a do-or-die in the best-of-three affair.

Adrian “Toshi” Bacallo (Pharsa) secured the Lord for Omega, but Nexplay deliberately ceded the valuable objective as John Paul “H2wo” Salonga (Lance) and Renejay “Renejay” Bacarse (Harith) opted for the split push.

Renejay and H2wo swiftly destroyed their foes’ inhibitor turret at the top lane and were already halfway through demolishing the base turret before Omega took notice.

H2wo put up 3 kills against 1 death in the second game for Nexplay, which improved to 13 points to leapfrog Execration (11 points) for the No. 3 spot in Group B and narrowed the gap with No. 2 Omega (14 points).

In the first match of the day, Blacklist International picked up its second straight series win after making quick work of Laus Playbook Esports, 2-0.

Blacklist remained at the top of Group B with 24 points.

Meanwhile, Aura PH seized a share of the lead in Group A with Work Auster Force after trumping defending champion Bren Esports, 2-1.
