Execration sets up a last dance with Blacklist International for the MPL PH Season 7 championship

Champion slayers.

Execration earned that distinction after annihilating two-time titlist Aura Philippines to reach the grand finals of the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) Season 7 on Sunday, May 30.

Fresh from eliminating defending champion Bren Esports, Execration continued its Cinderella run by crushing Aura, 3-0, in their best-of-five lower bracket finals to record the first sweep of the Season 7 playoffs.

Execration will tangle with Blacklist International for the championship and the top prize of $25,000 (around $1.2 million) in a battle of first-time MPL PH finalists.

The win proved to be a vindication of sorts for Kiel VJ “Kielvj” Hernandez and Renz “Renzio” Cadua as they showed the door to Aura, the team they helped win back-to-back MPL PH titles.

Aura released Kielvj and Renzio during the offseason before Execration acquired them for Season 7.

Kielvj (Claude) churned out 7 kills and 6 assists against 1 death in their series-clinching Game 3, while Renzio (Gloo) delivered 1 kill and 7 assists against 2 deaths.

Jaymark “Lord Hadess” Lazaro (Ling) secured the Lord for Aura PH after a massive team fight, but that did not matter as Kielvj, Renzio, and Patrick “E2max” Caidic (Yve) ended the game after nearly 21 minutes.

Despite dying in the final minute, Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Alice) showed the way for Execration in Game 3 with 5 kills and 3 assists against 3 deaths.

The sweep would not have been possible if not for Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog after he saved Execration with a quick-witted play in Game 2.

Lord Hadess and Aura were only a few turret hits away from knotting the series score at 1-1 before Ch4knu (Khufra) burned his Tyrant’s Rage ultimate to push the opposing minions away from their base.

In the grand finals, Execration will look to become the first team that started the playoffs in the lower bracket to win the MPL PH crown.

Aura settled for a third-place finish, although it is a major upgrade from its first-round exit in the playoffs last season. – Rappler.com
