Blacklist International wound up as the only unbeaten team in Season 8 of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Philippines after thwarting Bren Esports on Saturday, September 11.
The reigning MPL Philippines titleholder sent Bren crashing back to earth with a 2-0 romp in their best-of-three affair to notch its fifth consecutive series victory.
Bren snapped out of its slump the day prior with a 2-0 win over Omega Esports, but Blacklist gave the Season 6 champion a taste of its own medicine with a sweep following a come-from-behind Game 2 win.
Trailing by almost 6,000 in gold and down 2-8 in turrets destroyed 14 minutes into Game 2, Blacklist turned the tides at the 16th minute with a four-man kill during a fight for the Lord.
With only Mujahid “Malik” Malik (Lunox) the only player standing for Bren Esports, Blacklist wrapped up the series within the next minute.
Salic “Hadji” Imam (Beatrix) starred for Blacklist in Game 2 with 7 kills and 7 assists against 2 deaths, while Danerie James “Wise” del Rosario (Aldous) put up 6 kills and 7 assists against 4 deaths.
Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna (Diggie) made his presence felt in the Game 2 triumph with a game-high 14 assists against 4 deaths.
Blacklist improved to 12 points to forge a tie at the top spot with Onic Philippines, which absorbed its first series loss of the season following a shock 1-2 defeat to RSG Philippines.
Fresh from 0-2 beating from Nexplay EVOS the day prior, RSG regained its bearings and pulled off the biggest upset of the season to date to snap Onic Philippines’ four-series winning streak.
RSG improved to 6 points to share fifth place with Omega and TNC.
Meanwhile, Nexplay earned its second straight 2-0 win after taking down Echo to seize solo third place with 9 points.
