The Knicks star delivers a clutch assist to Jarell, a 17-year-old battling a rare form of cancer

MANILA, Philippines – Moments before tipoff for his team’s game against the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony did something that was “bigger than sports.”

The 9-time NBA All Star, through his Garden of Dreams foundation and Kia, was able to hand a clutch assist to 17-year-old Jarrel, who has just finished 18 months of chemotherapy for a rare form of cancer called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis, according to SBNation. Jarell, seen in the video wearing a Knicks jersey with his name on the back, and his family were in tears as the Knicks star made their Christmas a special one.

“Making a family happy, making a dream come true, giving them a day of happiness,” Anthony tells ESPN.

The Celtics wound up beating a determined Knicks squad, 119-114, after surviving a late rally at Madison Square Garden. – Rappler.com
