Following the Portland Trail Blazers’ 126-115 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday, June 4, Manila time, superstar guard Damian Lillard raised several eyebrows over his cryptic Instagram post, which quotes the late rapper Nipsey Hussle’s track Dedication.
“How long should I stay dedicated? How long ‘til opportunity meet preparation,” wrote the six-time All-Star Lillard.
Lillard’s frustrations appeared to have reached a boiling point as the Blazers suffered their second consecutive first-round playoff exit, their fourth in the last five seasons.
Despite superhuman performances by Lillard, especially in Game 5 where he dropped 55 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds, the Blazers still couldn’t get over the hump, falling to the undermanned Nuggets in six games.
Lillard, 30, was exceptional for the Blazers the whole series as he averaged 34.3 points on 45% shooting from deep to go with 10.2 assists and 4.3 rebounds.
Although Lillard still has four more years left in his contract with the Blazers, expect the team to make more blockbuster off-season moves in the coming months as they had already parted ways with head coach Terry Stotts shortly after the loss. – Rappler.com
