End or extend?
The Los Angeles Lakers shoot for the title while the Miami Heat look to stay alive as they face off in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Friday, October 9 (Saturday, October 10, Manila time).
Boasting of a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, the Lakers are in prime position to capture their 17th NBA championship, their first since the late Kobe Bryant led the franchise to a crown in 2010.
The Lakers have Bryant in mind as they wear the “Black Mamba” jerseys in Game 5, hoping that their undefeated playoff streak while sporting the all-black strip continues.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the top contenders for the Finals MVP honors should the Lakers win the crown, are expected to deliver in the close-out game against the Heat.
The Heat, meanwhile, aim to replicate their Game 3 win as they try to become the second team in NBA Finals history to overcome a 1-3 deficit.
Only the James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 managed to win a championship after being down 1-3.
Game time is 9 am.
