LeBron James – despite getting the boot in the first round for the first time in his career – gives Suns hotshot Devin Booker an autographed jersey with a short message on it

For the first time in his illustrious 18-year career, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs thanks to a 47-point Game 6 eruption by Phoenix Suns All-Star Devin Booker on Thursday, June 3 (Friday, June 4, Manila time).

Following the 113-100 loss that blemished his first round record at 14-1, the 36-year-old James gifted the 24-year-old Booker an autographed jersey with the short message “Continue to be great” written on it.

If Game 6 was any indication, Booker is definitely destined for greatness as he nearly outscored the entire Lakers squad by himself in the first half, 33-41. Overall, the two-time All-Star finished with 47 points on an 8-of-10 clip from three, and 11 rebounds.

He wrapped up his first career playoff series with averages of 29.1 points on 53% shooting and 43% from downtown, on top of 6.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists.

More importantly right now, a deep playoff run is likely in store for Booker as the Suns face the banged-up Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals.

Without Jamal Murray for the rest of the playoffs, the Nuggets will have to depend on a motley crew of Facundo Campazzo, Austin Rivers, and Monte Morris to defend Booker and match his production on offense.

Based on how Booker’s first playoff series turned out, the Nuggets need to “continue to be great” in order to survive moving forward. – Rappler.com
