Fielding a full roster this time, Letran avenges its stunning first-round loss to Lyceum for its seventh straight win

MANILA, Philippines – Letran extended its winning streak to seven after another tough clash with Lyceum, where the Knights avenged their first-round loss against the Pirates, 69-64, in the NCAA Season 98 men’s basketball tournament on Friday, October 28 at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Brent Paraiso and Louie Sangalang – who both served their suspension during that upset loss, 82-75 – made up for it by leading the Knights in the victory that upped their record to 10-3.

Paraiso led with 13 points and 3 assists, while Sangalang posted a double-double of 12 points and 18 rebounds while also chipping in in 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks.

The Pirates remain at third behind St. Benilde and Letran with an 8-5 slate.

Sangalang scored on a putback to lift the Knights, 64-62, after Lyceum’s John Barba knocked in a triple that tied the game at 62.

A King Caralipio layup kept Letran on top, but Lyceum still trailed by just a possession at 66-64 after Shawn Umali sank two freebies.

The Knights, though, proved steadier in the endgame as Fran Yu knocked in three of his four charities to seal Letran’s victory.

Kurt Reyson added 10 points for the Knights, while Yu also scored 9.

John Barba paced the Pirates with a game-high 16 points, while JM Bravo and Enzo Navarro had a combined 17 points.
