Rappler's livestream of the opening ceremony of Palarong Pambansa 2014
LAGUNA, Philippines – The biggest sporting event in the Philippines formally opens.
After the first day of games, Palarong Pambansa 2014 officially holds its opening ceremonies Monday, May 5.
Philippines’ lone representative to Sochi Winter Olympics Michael Christian Martinez along with PBA and UAAP players Jeric and Jeron Teng were in attendance.
WBO Welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, who was expected to lead the opening ceremony was not in attendance.
Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito addressed everyone in attendance at the Laguna Sports Complex.
“Palarong Pambansa promotes sports to unify the Philippines,” he said
