MANILA, Philippines – June Mar Fajardo felt bad for the fan dressed as Spider-Man who disrupted Game 5 of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup finals, but said he should have not pulled the stunt in the first place.
The man identified as Paolo Felizarta made a scene at the Araneta Coliseum as he ran inside the court with a signage “Vote! Love!” written on it and accidentally hit Fajardo on his right jaw.
“Tinamaan ako sa jaw. Walang problema ‘yun. Mali ‘yung way na pag-send niya ng message. Wala na ‘yun. Sa akin walang problema ‘yun. Siguro gusto niya lang magpapansin,” Fajardo told reporters.
(I was hit in the jaw. He had the wrong way of sending a message. But that’s behind me. I have no problems with that. I guess he just wanted to be noticed.)
Felizarta was apprehended by security personnel and was the subject of ire of Fajardo’s teammates.
Chris Ross and Christian Standhardinger both bumped Felizarta while Ronald Tubid landed a punch as soon as he was being ushered out of the court.
Felizarta was detained at Station 7 of the Quezon City Police Department on Friday, May 10, and faces charges of unjust vexation and alarm and scandal from the PBA. (READ: PBA ‘Spider-Man’ could spend a week in jail)
Recovered from him were other placards with messages of “support PBA,” “heal the Philippines” and “vote wisely this May 13.”

“Kung nagpapansin siya, may message siya na gustong iparating, mali ‘yung way niya. Sana matuto siya doon. Nakuyog tuloy siya. Sana okay siya. Wala naman siguro siyang intensyon na manakit,” Fajardo said.
(If he wanted to be noticed and wanted to send a message, he did it in a wrong way. I hope he learns from it. He was even mobbed. I hope he’s okay. He probably didn’t have an intention to hurt.)
Fajardo also issued a statement to the PBA faithful.
“Sa mga fans, ‘wag tularan ‘yung ganoon. Mali ‘yung way na ‘yun. Sana ‘di na maulit. Delikado ‘yung ginawa nya. Baka may ma-injure siya na mga players tapos siya ma-injure siya.”
(To all the fans, don’t follow what he did. It was wrong. I hope it doesn’t happen again. What he did was dangerous. He could have injured a player and he could have injured himself.)
Fajardo and San Miguel look to put the incident behind as they seek to force a do-or-die Game 7 after Magnolia hacked out an 88-86 win to go up 3-2 in the best-of-seven affair.
Game 6 will be staged at the same venue on Sunday, May 12. – Rappler.com
