La Salle star Aljun Melecio foregoes his final UAAP season to join the PBA Draft

In true Aljun Melecio fashion, the spitfire guard entered the PBA Draft just in the nick of time.

The La Salle star revealed he has joined the draft hours before the application deadline on Wednesday, January 27.

Melecio still has one year left to play for the Green Archers but he decided to forego his last season, presumably due to the uncertainty surrounding the next UAAP season.

“This was not the ending I expected for my time playing for the green and white,” Melecio wrote on Instagram.

“Being the team captain in my last playing year, I almost did not let go, but there are just some hard, but important decisions we must make.”

“This is a painful announcement, but it is one I have to make: I am entering the 2021 PBA Draft,” he added.

He becomes a part of a deep draft pool that includes his La Salle teammate Jamie Malonzo, who is touted as one of the potential top picks.

Melecio normed 10.6 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in his final UAAP season. – Rappler.com
