The PBA gets the nod from government agencies to launch its delayed 46th season this July

The PBA finally returns to play.

Pro basketball action returns as the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) approved the request of the PBA to start its 46th season on July 16, Games and Amusements Board (GAB) chairman Baham Mitra said on Friday, July 9.

The PBA had requested to adopt a “closed-circuit, semi-bubble setup” at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

“The recommendations of the professional sports division headed by [GAB commissioner Eduard Trinidad] has been taken into consideration by the IATF technical working group,” said Mitra in a virtual press conference on Friday.

PBA teams had been practicing in different provinces due to COVID-19 restrictions that prohibit them from training in Metro Manila.

The league was originally set to kick off its season on April 9. – Rappler.com
